I was born in El Paso, Texas but soon after my mother and I moved to Juarez, Mexico. I lived there until the age of eight. At four years old after struggling to crawl and (after physical therapy) I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. At eight years old I was wheelchair bound and that’s when I moved back to El Paso. The emotional journey was quite rough because I lost friends, confidence, and it felt like my body had betrayed me. My teenage years were probably the hardest overall. While teens in general have a hard time, I had to deal with my declining health and I bottled up my feelings until I nearly broke. I nearly committed suicide and not doing so just worsted my anger. Two years later at a week before my fifteenth birthday I got bronchitis and it got bad fast. The doctor told my mother I probably wouldn’t make it because my heart was too stressed.
Part two will be posted tomorrow or early next week. Thanks for reading.
